Our Father Is Faithful
Not long ago, I came upon a poem that reminded me why dark starry nights so frequently impress upon my mind the grandeur of a faithful heavenly Father especially when we dwell amid a world of turmoil. From the pen of Hermann Hagedorn here are the words from "Starry Night":
"We are such little (ones) when the stars come out,
So small under the open maw of the night,
That we must shout and pound the table and drive wild,
And gather dollars and madly dance and drink deep,
And send the great birds flying, and drop death.
When the stars come out we are such little (ones)
that we must arm ourselves in glare and thunder,
Or cave in on our own dry littleness.
We are such little (ones) when the stars come out!
Ah, God behind the stars, touch with your finger this mite
of meaningless dust and give it substance.
I am so little, under the frown of night!
Be You my body, You my eyes, my lips, my hands,
My feet, my heart-beat and my hunger,
That I may face the infinite spaces, and live;
And stand in quietness, when the stars come out."
This evening, I encourage you to take a moment and lift your eyes heavenward as Jesus did. Let yourself, in the stillness of the evening, absorb the faithfulness of our Father's immense love - as the "stars come out." Dorothy ValcĂ rcel/Transformation Garden Devotional

March madness
Here it is almost a year later!! I have been reading over last year's few posts I made when I had a moment to spare. This is the time of year we are usually very busy getting ready to open. Helen has decided not to reopen the B&B for the 2009 season. Of course, the Terrace has been for sale for awhile, now there is a large For Sale sign replacing the Terrace sign. I have been doing a bit of spring cleaning to spruce up the place for any potential buyers.......nothing like the grueling round the clock work that is required to open, thank God.
Today is a rainy day, and rain is so very welcome. Cooler a bit, but not at all bad for the time of year. We have had several days that have been wonderfully inviting and warm, with spring trying to make a comeback.
Today is the anniversary(SIX YEARS!!!!!)of Christie's flight to Rochester, MN and interviewing a few days later for a job with Mayo Clinic. And there she still is--------working at St.Mary's which is a part of Mayo, married with a terrific little guy, Nathan. Time has flown in some ways! I can't believe Nathan is ready for preschool this fall.
And now, for options for me and Alisha--------where next, Lord?
Stay tuned for an update as we find out ourselves :-)

Haven't posted in a while
It's been awhile since I've posted. Since working has consumed my time, with a seven day a week schedule, it's difficult to find the time to do anything personal, so some things have been on temporary hold, or I've simply forgotten because I'm (not surprising)tired. This season has started out quite strangely really. With the economy slowing down, most businesses have been effected---the B&B is included. Some days we are fairly busy, weekends are still pretty hectic with a full or almost full house, weekdays vary, so sometimes it's very slow. All rather unpredictable, and not like past seasons. Gas prices, food prices-----all rising, so people are not travelling as they have in the past, and things are very difficult financially for alot of people. With so many repairs having to be made here at the Bed and Breakfast, and one thing after another, Helen has had a challenging time trying to make ends meet for this particular business, since the amount of business we're getting so far probably can't even cover the cost of the food. With the buffet we serve daily and the price of food which is astronomical---no surprise there!!!!Our costs are rising, but the price we charge the guests has not, so logically speaking, doesn't even out or even break even .

Busy days ahead
Just a quick post as I am going to be super busy in the next few days getting the B&B ready to open for the season, and probably won't have time to do anything online. Getting this place totally cleaned and ready for guests needs a huge crew, which unfortunately isn't happening.

Calm after the storm
The much needed rain has finally abated. It was quite a shock to have a tornado hit downtown
Atlanta, and then a second round of storms yesterday which we shared in. Thankfully we just had the torrential rains and thunderstorms. Just fed the kitties at the Hensons, though Lefty still refuses to eat over there anymore, and insists on coming back and eating here, and remaining
inside. For outside cats he and Dexter have certainly become accustomed and even spoiled to the indoors. The birds are singing at the tops of their little lungs this morning, no denying that spring is right around the corner, and they want the world to know, obviously :-)

Longings
Life is good. A gift. Challenging, very challenging at times----Years worth of challenges :-) But
the journey is interesting to say the least. I'm glad I didn't know what I would go through, but
God has given the grace to go "through" and be stronger(and oh boy I hope wiser) and to be
a child of God who has learned to trust Him in ways that I wouldn't have been able to do, had
I not seen His faithfulness over these past years. I really hope to see some changes---positive
changes this year-----I have such a deep longing to have a home of my own, nothing grand or
pretentious, just a simple haven of peace to call my own far from the noise of civilization, yet
not so isolated in case of emergencies. A place to lovingly tend, with the door open to those God
would send my way-----Home is where love opens the door and welcomes you in. A place to put
down roots, plant flowers, a place to always "come home to". Financial freedom, with enough
to meet my needs and to bless others. This is my prayer, my hope, my longing. A place where
my family can once again call home. Tired of getting flung from one end of the country to another. I'm ready for restoration, stability, and I am trusting God to provide supernaturally,
because I definitely can't do it in the natural.
